Since 2012 the UCLA Extension Program has presented the positive psychology course Happiness: Theory, Research, and Application in Positive Psychology, which offers you an in depth look into the theories and predominant philosophies of happiness.
This comprehensive course covers topics such as the biological, physiological and neurological determinants of happiness, strengths and virtues, positive emotions, resilience, long term happiness, motivation and the pursuit of happiness as a constructive responsibility of society.
This course was designed and is taught by Emily VanSonnenberg, an experienced practitioner and educator who has also worked with the likes of the The Greater Good Science Centre. In addition to the UCLAx course, she has now put together to two new exciting positive psychology educational opportunities!
Two New Courses
Starting in October 2016 she will be teaching an applied scientific course for the Munich University of Applied Sciences.
The course is called Making Work Meaningful: Theory, Research and Application in Positive Psychology and Organizational Behavior. Details of the course are yet to be published but keep on eye on this space for more information.
Along with this, she is also providing an online, private series called Happiness: The Science and Practice of Positive Psychology. These sessions boast similar content to the UCLA extension course however with an intimate individual or small group structure.
We love that Emily believes that Positive Psychology should be available to anyone who wants to learn about it and through these small, private sessions she hopes to give every person the chance to learn about happiness.
The course is aimed at removing the pressure of exams and assignments whilst still offering a high quality, university level education which would provide you with meaningful ways to enhance their well-being, relationships and life goals.
Course Content
The Happiness: The Science and Practice of Positive Psychology course exposes its students to the science of happiness, life satisfaction and work success and teaches an array of practical techniques for happiness and fulfillment.
From the course you will:

- Cultivate of inspiration and creativity
- Become brave as you pursue the goals that matter most to you
- Integrate gratitude, novelty, savoring and mindfulness into your life

This will be achieved through tailor made, evidence-based interventions and weekly and one-on-one feedback. By having an online format you can join in from anywhere in the world and have the rare chance to meet, discuss and collaborate with a master in the field.
