Wilfrid Laurier University’s new Centre for Public Safety and Well-Being has launched its online certificate program in Positive Psychology, designed by Canadian Positive Psychology Association Director, Sajel Bellon.
While anyone is welcome to register, the program was designed with the particular needs of front-line workers, first responders and those in the education, healthcare and social service sectors in mind.
This 9 month program was designed to help students learn how positive psychology principles can be used to reduce the impact of associated workplace stress related to their personal and professional lives, build resilience, and promote life satisfaction and well-being.
“I am thrilled to be part of such a leading edge initiative in transforming the approach to mental health within organizations. Working with the frontline, first responder & community services has always been my passion and I bring this energy to this program by offering evidence-based best practices and research within the curriculum.
I am proud to be a leader with both the Canadian Positive Psychology Association and Wilfrid Laurier in shifting the cultural paradigm from the stigmatized perception of mental health to the promotion of mental wellness through education,” explains Bellon.
The positive psychology certificate consists of 5 modules: one 6-week module followed by four, 4-week modules:
